The Art of 'The Journey': A Case Study in Editorial Design
The Challenge:
The primary challenge was to translate a dynamic, time-based medium—an animated short film—into a static but equally compelling 50+ page print publication. The goal was to create a book that could stand alone as a narrative artifact, guiding the reader through the story's art and development with clarity and emotional resonance.
The Process & Solution:
A flexible grid system and clear typographic hierarchy were established in Adobe InDesign to ensure consistency and readability across all pages. This structure was crucial for balancing full-bleed original illustrations with structured text blocks. The layout was intentionally paced to mirror the rhythm of the original film, creating a cohesive experience across different mediums.
The Outcome:
The final publication is a comprehensive book that showcases expertise in long-form editorial design, complex layout, and typography. This project demonstrates the ability to manage a large-scale print document from concept to completion.
Tools Used: Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop
